Hi All
Does anyone know if the serpentine belt from and EF/EL is the same part as the belt from XH? Regards BenJ

XH belt is longer.
I can have a look on my cars for the part nos if you like. Either that or any parts dealer could do same.

Cheers Snap.
I may be doing a conversion with an EL Motor shortly, using my original Log inlet manifold. I have the XH tensioner, and will now make sure I purchase a belt as part of my prep for the engine change. Regards BenJ

Why stick to the log intake?

Aside from the performance gains the EL manifold allows much greater access to that side of the engine.

There seems to be argument regarding which is the better performing mainifold under different engine combinations none of which I am qualified to back in either direction.
I do like the idea of better access, as the log mainifold is a b**ch to work with. However, the purpose of my question was to establish if the belts are different, as I was considering using the Log manifold when I installed my new EL engine. I have now decided to use the BBM manifold. For more info on my Engine install, see my thread, BenJs EL Engine Conversion. Regards BenJ

what does the belt have to do with the manifold?

The XH ute used the log manifold with the serp belt set up. The serp belt tensioner used is designed to allow belt clearance of the log manifold throttle body and is different to EF/ELs with the BBM manifold, which in turn means you need a different belt to accomodate the change in length.

ok that makes sense. i always wondered what the difference between the 2 tensioners was. i never thought of it that way.
so that all makes sense now. you use the log manifold you have to use your xh tensioner and belt to suit

Agree, however if you fit a BBM to an XH the existing belt and tensioner will fit. Mine did....
