It has been covered before many times, yet still i have a few questions.
I have an EF I6 with a blown headgasket, got the motor complete from EVL098, and have stripped it of the front end dress, but to remove the water pump i had to remove the exhaust manifold. 1. Does the water pump from an EF come without the metal hose attached, and if so, how does one remove the hose so as not to have to remove the exhaust for fit ment to the ED. Everything else came off easy as pie, bar the timing cover, i take it that the head needs to be removed or the sump dropped for this. Any help is greatly appreciated as i am not keen to drop the sump or remove the head from the ED. Thanks in advance Brett

brett..
there is a rubber o ring that sometime holds the metal pipe in the water pump.. a new water pump will come a new o ring for the pipe thats on your ed.. so no need to remove the pipe...(unless your considering a bbm conversion aswell? if you are? you will need that pipe from the ef..) if you want to swap the timing cover you will need to either drop the sump or remove the head.. but you can use the ed timing cover.. the only thing thats different is the timing mark.. |

Cheers Troy, yes i will be doing the BBM as well. Is there a trick to removing the tube from the pump, as the pump as rooted but the tube is in great nick. So i can keep the ED timing cover even when doing the BBM.
Lastly, does anyone have a harmonic balancer puller i can borrow. Cheers Brett

Cheers Brett Use some WD40 or similar penetrating fluid and let it soak in overnight. Then use a suitable hammer and belt the water pump, not the pipe. Hopefully it will come loose. Cheers BenJ

also if your doing the bbm aswell ,you will need to remove your exhaust manifold to run that ef steel pipe around the block to the heater hoses.. which will need to be changed to ef ones aswell..
also dont forget, for the bbm conversion you will need the ef accelerator pedal and throttle cable, aswell as the ef rocker cover for the accelerator cable to mount to... |

The throttle pedal and stuff is here for you Brett. Kick me in the a*** so I pull it out and bring it Friday.
Also have a harmonic balancer puller. As above kick me in the a***. We also need to find out what cruise control bits we need to remove form the beast in my backyard for you.
