I took off the cao and found some dirt.
There's a bit of dust around the top of the distributer also (the rotor not cap) do I remove this or is there oil there I shouldn't remove? Also there's white and black powder stuff around the terminals under the cap where the leads connect. Should I remove this? or is it a protectant? |

not much to do really
make sure the contacts are clean and not damaged same with the rotor IIRC you can get a new carbon button for the the coil lead that goes onto the dizzy rotor the balck dust you see can be take away with some compressed air the leads dont connect under the cap they connect at the top

every 6 months or whip the dizzy cap of give it a good clean with a rag or something. also sand back the white powdery stuff with a very fine grit sandpaper until the contacts a clean again you can also do this to the contact point on the rotor button. don't go nuts with the sandpaper just enough to get the crap off

Agree with the replacement - cap and rotor. Note the kms when they're changed.
Give the hall effect setup a good clean while the rotor and cap are off - use metho and a soft brush (be careful and gentle).
