My engine shakes a bit too. Does it completely stop the shakes? And how does it fit up mate?

hahahahaha wtf..

clearly a "Shaker" kit is a bonnet scoop that is a mock up of the original XY GT falcon that was commonly known as the "shaker" falcon coz the bonnet scoop was connected to the motor not the bonnet so when it was idleing it literally shakes.

I gotta say, in my opinion shakers look nice on XY's / Mustangs that they were designed for - and not much else.... its one thing sticking one on say an XA-C, at least it has a carby to mount it to etc. but these ones you see on BA's and the like look weird - they sit too high, too far forward, and at a slightly weird angle. Then when you DO open the bonnet they have to have a tube coming out of them at a weird angle to even have any hope of getting the air back to the airbox ( half the time you see them the tube's not actually connected to anything anyway.) I mean, each to their own, but mate stick one on a 6 its gonna look a little lame... reminds me of one on here over the last few weeks where the guy had a fake blower on an XR 6 - must have cost a fortune, looked stupid and everyone here had a good laugh at it - I really don't think a shaker's gunna be much different in terms of people's reactions...

so if its a legitametly set-up bonnet scoop that actually works would it be so bad?..
i mean if you look at the 3V motor like in my XT, the TB is directly in the centre of the bonnet going straight up. if i were to get it done i would have a panel sort of filter and it bolted directly to the TB.

still crap in peoples opinion?

The expensive ones around $1000 are used for cold air induction, this type uses a 4-5in intake tube from the shaker into the airbox.

Then have a look at the long run the intake has to do, woud be horrendous for throttle repsonse and maintaining any kind of air velocity. May as well throw a snorkel on there while your at it, you would get as much gain.

These setups do nothing for performance, plenty to prove you have $$ to burn. If that's your cup of tea, you can have it. Would taste pretty bad I'd imagine.

I could almost assure you, everyone who says they are a great thing, probably has one.

Surely an easier setup would be sit the shaker on delete the airbox all together, run the piping from the shaker direct to the TB with a pod or panel filter in there somewhere. Then you run into the next issue, middle of the bonnet is actually a lower air density than the front of the car already pushing through the air. may be offset due to the size of the inlet and the short direct run to the TB, but it could be a costly exercise to have nil gain other than $$ to burn wow factor.

Get it cammed up with some sloppy engine mounts and it would "shake" f**k everywhere.

Touch off topic.. had to laugh f**k hard when a shaker kit was misinterpreted to be a kit to stop or reduce unwanted engine shaking. Thanks for the laugh kids...

Yeh, but when you look to see who posted that comment, it is not much of a suprise.
