After changing my Diff ratio to 3.45 and correcting the speedo with the black speedo gear my Auto now changes cogs at 6100 rpm. I am not to concerned as I have a manual to go in at some stage. What would be the safe readline for an AU motor?

Not sure on the redline but if you fit the old speedo gear back in the shift points should go back to normal but the speedo will read out.

if your running the 3.45 speedo gear you need to run the XR ECU to correct your shift points (as the xr ecu is calibrated to 3.45 gears and contains the right shift points)

I had thought about an XR but is not an option as I am running the dual fuel ECU, any way I am going manual soon anyway so the issue goes away, the question was about safe readline for an AU.

I can't see that it matters as the rolling diameter of my 235/17/45 are the same within a few percent as the standard 215/15/60.

Hmmm... if you've managed to fool the speedo... you may well be able to fool the ECU as well.

I assume the correction device is fitted between the ECU and the dash? Meaning the ECU is getting an unmodified speed sensor signal...

Is it possible to hook this device up between the vehicle speed sensor (the trans) and the ECU?

fair enough, i suffered from the same prob as you, but the manual install soon fixed that

not that easy when your ECU isnt calibrated to the right diff gears. See with mine, i still have a 3.08 ecu running, and im running 3.73:1 diff gears and the 3.7 speedo gear.

So i put my foot to the floor at say 130, the ECU is thinking, sweet, 3.08 diff gears, ill kick back to second gear, and running the 3.7s that is red line. It will kick the car back to second gear and just bounce off red line till i back my foot off, get up over around 140 then i can flatten it and it wont jump back gears. pain in the a**!

My issue is not as bad but similar, at least with gas there is no cutout at redline it just keeps going.

No just a symptom of the auto shift points being speed pulse related not rpm related.

Simple fix. DO NOT CHANGE THE SPEEDO SENDER.
