well with a new exhaust system you would get a nicer note...and maybe a few kws while your at it...not much I say....but if you go with extractors and modify the cat converter with a 2.5" flange...well then you would feel the power more then just a cat back.
And if you are going to do more to the engine later. It is a good idea to get a better exhaust system. just my 2c phong =P~

Long Answer: you'll get a nicer note out of it, and perhaps a minimal increase in power as it will flow better, but not any change in fuel economy. However, couple a nice exhaust system with a good set of extractors - you'll get an even better sounding exhaust note, a more noticeable increase in performance (and you will notice it), as well as a gain in fuel economy due to the engine not having to work as hard to push out exhaust gasses - its a win win situation, unless its too loud and mr plod or his 'special' man friend the EPA decide to pull you over and slap you with one of his famous yellow stickers - go loud, just not bowel moving loud

my exhaust sys cost 1,175 all up installed
Also, make sure you get a high flow cat, I have found it to be very beneficial if you wan't maximum performance. heres the cost break up (including fitting): - 2 1/2" mandrel bent redback exhaust from the cat back $310 - Hi Flow Catalytic converter $290 - pacemaker extractors $500 - changed the rear muffler to a resonator (for better note) $75 ================================================== Total $1,175 ==================================================

got it done at performance exhaust ringwood, (in new st off maroondah hwy). If you ask them to get it all done, ask them for a good price cause your getting it all done at once and they also give even better deals when you pay by cash.

10 yrs ago i got the old mans falcon ute done there, they also did a b4 and after dyno run and we scored a whopping 71kw's!
no wonder it doesn't pull a trailer up a hill sad huh? even more sad'r is that it has a T5 attached to it. pity the old ute is just gutless. im yet to measure the stroke as i think some Prick reco'd it with a nice 3.3 crank all in all, the exhaust place did a great job, and good price!

It is not necessary to get a hi-flow cat. You can just get it modified by making the openings to 2.5" and it still does the trick.
I am unsure if there is a difference between stock cat or hi-flow cat cause I have never really tried it myself. But if you are going to go all out...you might as well phong =P~

Phong, on the FF website, theres a thread about modifying BA NA 6's and heaps of people post up there BA's and it has been noted that people who use high flow cats get significant higher power outputs. Don't believe what daniel (soulfire) says about them .
And daboris, ringwood isn't too bad after you get onto the eastern freeway, I got some of the exhaust done in ringwood whilst I was minding my cousins house in mill park.
