Just changed power steering racks for my EB. Feels and handles better, but it's got shudder now when I try to turn the wheel idling or when i'm taking off to turn a corner, getting out of parking, etc. Happens more to the left than the right but still shuttering. Didn't do this with the old rack.
It doesn't shutter when i'm driving and turning the wheel though, nor does it shudder when I brake. Old fluid was drained out, put new fluid in, turned the wheel left and right to get the air out... maybe there's still air trapped in it? Could it be the switch? Cheers. |

Checked the fluid, it was almost full. Took the cap off, started the car, turned the wheel multiple times, didn't seem to shudder as much this time, although it was only on idle I didn't wanna drive it around again. Could be just air in the end but how long does it take to bleed it out properly or if I was driving around?

I think if you do circles lock-to-lock it might push the air out quicker. So find yourself a parking lot and do figure 8s.

I have heard it recommended to do half a dozen tight figure eights (not quite on the stops) to purge the air.

I haven't done any figure 8's yet but it's getting better now as I've barely had a problem with it this morning. I'll do some soon and then that should be it.
Cheers guys. |
