all your ways suck.
call racv theyll do it in 20 secs and not damage your car at all, its very easy and much cheaper than buying a new window.

p.s. the rear 1/4 window is the most expensive to replace.

READ BEFORE POSTING

1. he's in qld, so it's the racq not racv
2. he said he's too far out for racq to come to him
3. we said break the driver's side window as it is the cheapest

just push down hard on one of the back windows, use a bit of muscle, all the manual operated window regulators can be forced this way on all e-series cars.

I was thinking he could remove the number plate, grab a pair of side cutters and break away the plastic plug on the bottom right corner, when that's removed it's a fairly large opening and you could easily hook a coat hanger in and grab the cable.
A 20 cent plug is far cheaper and easier to replace than a window.

ok, seeings as mods dont mind details being aired.
mods delete thsi if you think its bad.

put a wedge in the top of one of the front doors, push the wedge in as to seperate the door from the roof, now insert coat hanger (wrap top in bag so not to hurt paint) and grab the interior handle. voila.

There's no quick release cable in the boot of the EF/L's Walker (only fuel release). You have to cut through the boot trim to get to the latch to open it from the inside.

Also I thought the RACQ serviced Balgal Beach? Don't they travel upto 40km for roadside assistance? But I guess you did call them and inquired with your problem.

My option is depending on your insurance (like if you get one free windscreen per year) is to smash the windscreen :D That way it doesn't cost you a cent at all.

dosen't the coat hanger or slim jim trick work on ef - el? because it works on an xf.

does anyone know if the locks cycle when the power is cut e.g: removing battery terminal and re-connecting?

Not what i was talking about mate, there is a cable from the barrel to the catch, the bottom rh hole for the number plate wouldn't be too far off it.

^--- this is the way to do it, it works very effectively..

locksmiths usually use:

a small inflatable bladder
plastic wedge
1cm wide (but thin and plyable) steel with a hook on it.

stick the bladder either into the top of the door, or between the door and the B pillar, and inflate it as much as possible, then insert the wedge in, and deflate the bladder and pull it out, then bend the steel to shape to bend back to grab the handle, then feed it into the gap and have 2 or 3 goes at pulling the handle, once you get it the doors unlock

its a 2 minute job if your proficient
