Alright..
Well, she was running like a***, suuper rich. Threw a new MAP sensor on, didnt change much at all.. White smoke for about 15-20 min of idle, after that its just really fuelly-smelling.. When cold, smokes BAD white and under ANY load it looks like im tryna start a fire or send SOS signals.. I dont know if it still runs rich on the different MAP sensors, but the same smell is there so i assume so.. Im ready to give up and punch it.. It's chewing through the fuel too.. |

Have you reset the computer after putting the MAP sensor on?

Pist'n'broke wrote: How do i do that? Battery unhook? Yeah for at least 15mins. If I reset mine it runs brilliant for a day, then slides out of tune a bit, I put it down to a knackered O2 sensor, but it will be replaced soon enough. |

Reseting the computer takes longer than 15mins. I think its an hour.

I'll just let it sit for an hour then, doesn't bother me, as long as it works

A dodgy fuel reg will also cause black smoke and over fueling to mate.

I have the white smoke in the mornings here in the ACT and all it is is the condensation hitting the cold air. The other thing that happens is when you shut off the vehicle, the water condensates and sits in the low points in the exhaust and pools. The rear muffler is the worst place for it hence why they rot big time. I too replaced the O2 sensors in my XR8 and my economy was perfect again...600km a tank of 95RON and 400-450km of LPG.
I saw an I6 Fairmont up the street blowing white smoke however this was lingering white smoke - a huge difference - and found out she had chewed a valve and was dispensing oil directly into the exhaust manifold...was like an oily fog drifting down the street... Sorry for the waffle |
