Check the firewall where the clutch cable goes through. The noise may be the metal flexing & about to crack. Can't think of anything else that would make the noise when changing gears.

How's the engage/disengage action of the clutch?

EDIT: DOH! Why is this thread posted twice?

Yea i have a T5 conversion aswell and mine does this aswell, it sounds like it is coming from the driver's side door for me though... Only happens when i really snap the clutch out going back through the gears. Sometimes also when i slam it into 2nd and get chirpies it also does it.

have u checked the gearbox mount, also there could be movement where the front exhaust hanger joins to the gearbox

hey cheers
umm its not the fire wall it sounds like somethings a bit loose and when the pressure is let of it it goes back into its position which makes a snap noise
it could be the gearbox mount makes secne because when i give it a bit i can feel the gear box move from the stick or is that meant to happen
