why are you getting the hoodlining done?
I went and bought one from an EL for 40 bucks and put that in my car.. looks better then the factory ea-ed (contoured) one and went in in less than an hour. |

Basically because the one that came with it was sagging, stretched and had tears. I would've done it myself if I could be bothered waiting till a headlining came up, needed it done for roadworthy reasons.

Woo just drove it down my brothers driveway (and along the road a little, sssh don't tell anyone), its got balls considering I still haven't wired in the knock sensor or bbm switch yet.
It looks like the coolant temp sensor isn't working, that or the guage itself is buggered. The headlining is looking good, the battery is flat (got a jumpstart off of the towie) and I think that the alternator might not be charging the battery. FINALLY swapping out the carpet and the scuff plates and kick panels today, and giving it a wipe over. Wooo. |

If you still have the EF Lower Thermostat housing with only one sensor in it, you will need to swap it for an EB one which has three holes. One of these is specifically for the Temp Guage in the EB cluster. You may even need to run a wire from it to the cluster. Cheers BenJ

good stuff buddy. glad to hear its all running. i have the same temp guage issue. im still running the EL housing. i have the stock one here but too lazy to swap it over... only cos i know my thermos will save me if worst comes to worst.. they have before, almost no water, almost no oil, fans kept it barable till i got to safety

Hey guys, I'll have to chase down a EB thermostat housing then I guess.
Also does anyone know what the deal with the brush box on the EF/EL alternators, apparently they can be removed and rebuilt which saves having to replace the whole thing and its also apparently fairly cheaply done by an auto electrician. My question is, how do I remove it... its apparently in the EF/EL glovebox manual, which I don't have :p |

afaik they are internal on the ef/el alternator.. only the ea/eb bosch ones have a removable reg and brushes??
i hope your alternator hasnt died as the ef ones are not cheap.. i just payd $240 for a reco one!! |

Oh geeze, I'm hoping it isn't :p
Just the battery has gone flat a couple of times, but the engine hasn't been running for any long period of time yet. I had it running for 20 minutes on saturday after getting a jumpstart and it wouldn't start after I turned it off for fear of overheating (due to not yet having a working temp gauge and the thermoswitch not being set accordingly) |

does it have the sport cluster tach/oil/volts/fuel/temp ect..
if so aslong as the volt guage reads around 14v it should be ok.. i would say its probably just a tired battery.. how old is the battery? |

Nope, just the standard cluster, the battery is brand new.
I'll charge it up and start it then run the multimeter over the terminals to see if its getting charge into it. |

hmm ok..
does the charge light light up when the ignition is turned on? maybe the wire conecting to the alt has been re wired the wrong way?(thats only if it had the bosh alternator before the engine conversion). |

No clue on what alternator was originally in it, the battery indicator light came on and turned off so it may have been getting charge.

ok
but best to check it while running with a multi meter. that way you know for sure if your alt is charging |
