If the gearbox happens to need the service, which sounds like it may do, I recently got a quote for my BTR @ $200 but may be differant in your area but shouldnt be too much differance.
Also, if your confident topping up the oil yourself, make sure you are on level ground, and there is a filler plug on the passenger side at the rear of the gearbox - unscrew that and fill it with Castrol TQ95 or equivelent (Nulon do a gearbox oil equivilent for a little bit cheaper). The oil should only be filled to the bottom of the screw thread on the filler plug if that makes sense . . . I needed 2 people for this coz I was under the car holding a hose into the filler plug while a mate of mine was pouring the oil into the funnel - that way I could make sure that the oil was at the right level - though in saying that even if you do over fill it the excess oil should come back out of the filler hole if you leave it for a bit and should stop at the right point. I just didnt want to waste oil. Hope thats a help mate Cheers Grant |

Just came from the transmission mechanics, they say I need to change the solenoid (S1) anyone from the Hobart area willing to help me put one in? just requires taking the transmission pan off then fitting the new (S1) then top up with tranny fluid, so the car will need to be off the ground abit to get underthere. Am willing to pay abit for helping out

I had the same problem with mine last week. Mechanic replaced it with a tranny service for under 300. I was getting 691 fault code which means dodgie s1 solenoid. Cleared the error codes from the ecu after I got back home and no problem since. |
