Dismantling my spare engine, (4.0), the 2nd plug is stuck TIGHT, with a Tbar, it is turning, but seems to be getting tighter, as i go. Most likely, the plug wasnt put in straight. Is there a solution, or is my head stuffed, because of one stripped thread?
Any ideas, or experience with this? thanx matt |

Try spraying heaps of wd40 down the spark plug hole

try hitting it with wd40, then a heatgun, let it cool, repeat.

i wouldn't imagine a 240v heatgun would create enough heat to make a difference. if its getting harder it sounds like its about to snap off in there, which makes for a big problem, still fixable but no fun.
Try a micro cracking freeze release spray, i use one produced by wurth and i swear by it. i also know loctite puts up a similar product at autobarn which apparently does the same thing. only way to do it is to turn counter clockwise with the midas touch, then go back clockwise to clear it out, then keep repeating going a bit furthur counter clockwise every time. never, NEVER just keep trying to back it out as you already know..

micro cracking freeze release spray, can admit, thats one thing ive never heard of. How's it work? Down my way, theres only Repco stores left, which sux, there aint much there but the basics. What kind of specialtry outlet would stock it, you think? thanx again matt |

Freeze Spray is a CRC product so should be available from Repco. If not, try d**k Smith - electronics techos use it for finding weak joins. It's a gas stored under pressure as a liquid in the can, but instantly vapourises when sprayed (a bit like LPG), cooling the surface to -50C. The drop in temperature shrinks the part, so you would try to spray it on the spark plug and avoid the head. Don't spray it on your skin - you'll get instant frostbite - and don't let the spark plug touch your skin for a minute or two.
Loctite has a similar product called Freeze and Release. The only difference is that it has something like WD40 mixed in with it - to help with the release.

thanks efxr6wagon, i didn't know the loctite equivilant had wd40 also. this would probably help the cause. i've also seen the freeze spray physically pop flakey rust off seized mild steel bolts & threads. pretty incredible stuff, it either works or it doesn't though i've found.

Go get a can of Bolt-off, Drawn it and leave it over night.
Then get your T bar and work it back and forth while keeping it drawned in Bolt-off. It will come out, then run an old tap down the thread. If it really stuffs the thread it can be repaired with the like of a helicoil. |

Due to a tip from a neighbour, i saved nyself some money.
Problem is solved. I turned the plug back in(it was, maybe, half way out when it stuck), whilst spraying with RP7/WD40. When the sparkplug was right in , i filled the well with RP7, put my new antenna in, went back to the head, and couldnt believe how easy it came out. Welll, it was still hard, but, nothing like before, nothing looks stripped either. SO, putting the plug back in allowed the RP7 to get into the thread where it was previously jammed i guess, lubing it up for me when i got back to it. Something to remember maybe, i wont forget it anyway, thought I'd let you guys know matt |
