I've reacently pu thte NGK Iridium spark plugs in my car, I ordered the set in for the Tickford/XR6 spec engine and am very happy with em, won't go back, not that i need to since they last like 100,000km's or something higher.
But, they are $20 bucks a plug, so prolly not worth it unless you get trade price or something like that,. |

I've worked out that @ 15-16L/100km round town, if the Irridium plugs give you 1% more efficiency, you end up a couple of bucks ahead per plug @ the end of their life compared to regular plugs.
That was worked out on my trade price of $12 each though. |

You just contradicted yourself their. What sort of decent set of Manufacturers lead has the boot fall off the lead in your hand Thats why I chucked mine out after 6 months use. Total s**t they are

Friends and myself have never had a problem with Topgun leads.
My Dads mechanic who knows his fords back to front put topguns on Dad's EL, and he said he instantly noticed more power and response. That was good enough for me, I just fitted a set to my EL. Haven't driven it yet, its raining and I don't want to dirty my car

Plugs and leads have to be in EXTREMELY bad nick for someone to "instantly notice a power increase"
The human body can only detect changes in G-Forces down to 0.1G. Now, if you replace your leads and plugs before they're totally f**k, you might expect 5kw more @ the flywheel. On the I6 that is about 3% more power. So, unless your I6 is catapulting you to 100km/h @ at least 3.33G, the human body isn't physically capable of detecting any change. It's more that people are expecting a change, so their mind imagines a change. If you were to do coil pack, leads, plugs, air filer, fuel filter, thin oil and filter, and they were all in bad nick, you probably might notice a difference. But not just from some plugs and leads |
