Could be blocked core. Always good to get it pressure tested. Thermostat could also be stuck closed or not opening properly.
If car is still running as usual, could also be the radiator cap.

Are you getting a lot of pressure in the top radiator hose and has it been leaking elsewhere?

Mate, from my limited experience could be anything from a head gasket to a radiator cap, probably the easiest and cheapest thing to rule out would be the radiator cap if the car is not boiling and there is no evidence of oily sludge in the expansion tank and it is running at normal temp, if a mate has got a similar car try his cap, otherwise a pressure test wouldnt go astray, cheers

check & replace your Relays (sometimes a good tap with the screw driver or something kicks them back in)
faulty relays = no fans = water boiling = spewing out the overflow bottle If fans are working OK & you can hear them then start working your way around the cooling system. 1) Thermostat 2) is water dirty/rusty/brown looking? if so could be really bad cooling system. If thats the case a bottle of radiator flush (Tectalloy HD is what i prefer) pop it in drive for around 1 - 2 hours. come home & flush the system with new water & coolant. (Dont forget to turn the heater on to FULL as well so the water runs through the heater core as well). 3) how old is your radiator? If too old then get it replaced. a faulty radiator can cause you big big problems (like cooking the motor). 4) water pump is it working? if not replace it. still water tends to cook a lot quicker than water thats being circulated. that should keep you occupied for the better part of the day. if all these dont fix your problem then start looking into the engine. Maybe engine gases heating up water? if thats the case then guess what??? Not so much good news i am afraid. |

its the engine i fuley rebuilt, so it has new a thermostat, now that you say, the cap looks a little old
No oil in water/ water in oil runs perfectally, dont think its boiling ill grab a new cap and well see what the go is

You rebuilt the engine and didn't get the radiator flushed cleaned repaired

from my experiences with RACV etc i think so. when you pull up and turn it off the pressure builds up and if the cap is faulty it'll just open up

In 99% of cases it's the cap. I'd change that before looking at anything else.

Alot of the time this happens when people try to retain the 'full' level in the res when cold. Theres a high-low mark for a reason, if it's full when it's cold then it heats up, mix expands & exits through overflow. Paranoid person thinks something is wrong and keeps topping up the res and viscous cycle begins.
Not saying this is you're problem but it happens. & would be the easiest to fix
