Hi all

I'll be putting in a 1521a soon into my el xr6 and just wondering cos it already has xr valve springs would there be much point in changing them??

Thanks

your XR springs 13-14yrs old...... they weaken over time

i ran new crow XR springs, and the tuner said they were still noisy up top revs

Atomic Performance Parts, they also make some good valve springs for the 6.

Website quotes ~$380 this is for the kit.
This is for a full street/race kit.

Whats with the double posting man? You only need to start one thread to ask one question. People will see it, trust me.

crow make XR springs, and another 2 stiffer springs on top of that

one set is the double springs, and the other is a single spring i think with specs between the XR & doubles

its on page 3, underneath the crossflow ones

http://www.crowcams.com.au/media/catalo ... %20all.pdf

btw, you also have to make sure yours isnt a late EL with the hybrid AU head, cause then you will need different cam & springs.....

I'm pretty sure he's car was made at the same time as mine.

December 1996.

So just regular EL Tickford Head.

Had a look at the crow website and noticed that the double valve springs for el -au feb 98 Had to be machined , but they won't fit mine cos it's not a hybrid , other than that I couldn't find a double valve spring for el non hybrid , I'll give them a call , or get the atomic springs sly el suggested

its in the link i posted, page 3, table under the crossflow one

3 part numbers........ 1st is XR spec, 2nd are little more stiffer, and 3rd is the doubles

i think you could get away with the middle ones.......... double springs put more pressure wear & tear on the valvetrain
