Thanks everyone for your suggestions. i'm thinking its the power steering pulley.... what does it cost to replace and how hard is it to DIY...

Also a friend mentioned changing the power steering fluid as he thought the fluid could do with a change..
His reasoning was as the fluid warms up, the burnt particles separate and become thinner, thus causing less friction...and no noise… make any sense to any one??

If that was the case, how do I do that and what tools would I need?

if the fluid is red then i wouldnt worry about it but if its a yellowy colour then yes deffinaly change it

but if the seal is stuffed then you would be leaking coolent. if you, jack the car up and you will see at the bottom of the water pump there will be a small hole if collent is leaking from there then yes the water pump seal is stuffed and your due for a new water pump

That really depends on what fluid you use. I know a bunch of people which just stick dextron III in there, or II for that matter  . There's probably a recommended fluid, and Im sure you could get it from ford if you don't like using substitutes.

Cheers

My pump was squeaking for about 3 months before the seal completely let go and starting dumping coolant from the drainage hole...

No worries. Thats what we're here for. Learning, and sharing.

4.9 EF - Thats just created quite a funny visual in my mind. And that just goes to show that "turning the volume up" doesn't mean the problem is not there, or isn't going to get worse.

Cheers

Lol, yeah i stood back and had a laugh myself as the car proceeded to dump about 5L of coolant onto the road....

I wish i saw this threat from the beginning. From the first line i knew it was your water pump. I had the same thing happen to my EB dunno if they are the same pump. But yeah i actually had a hole blasted in the side after going hard one time. Was pretty brutal. it made the worst sound ay and when i took it out it was so stiff.
