Over the last week or so, i noticed upon a cold start up,i get this high pitched squeal from under the bonnet. The belt was is quite new, so i know it's not that.
I used a stethoscope tool to check for pulley and bearing noises and changed the 2 idler tension bearings (because they were really noisy), but this has made no difference at all to the overall squeal noise though. If I leave the car to ideal, and get it up to operational temp, the noise does not go. However, if I drive for say 10mins or so the noise slowly disappears. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

well in my old car the solution as if the noise didnt sound good, just turn your radio up louder and then you never have any problems
.... on the serious note, it sounds like something is rubbing, and doenst have any lube! important stuff was like in my old corona, if the car was idling when it got to its normal opeation temp, it would stall, restart it and it was fine, if you held the revs at 1500 rpm just as it hit the temp spot the revs would drop and it would almost stall, never fingured out what was going on

Bushes in alternator ?? how do u check those??
Also a friend mentioned changing the power steering fluid as he thought the fluid could do with a change.. His reasoning was as the fluid warms up, the burnt particles separate and become thinner, thus causing less friction...and no noise… make any sense to any one?? If that was the case, how do I do that and what tools would I need?

alternator bushes are relatively easy, remove two screws on the sides of the black thing on the back of the alternator (regulator), and then pull it out. You should see the bushes. They should be quite long, and check the surface of them, for sparks caused for a longer gap.
As for changing the power steering fluid, undo hose from behind, catch fluid, do up hose, fill up. Thats my way, Im sure there's a propper way.. but meh. Cheers and good luck

MAybe water pump. If the seal is on its way out, coolant gets to the bearings.. and kills em. More of a squeaking sound tho.

I dunno about the alternator squealing... its possible. But not likely, otherwise voltage issues would be noticeable.

my ef does the same thing as the corona bud, once at operating temp it stalls once it is taken off idle and it squeels preety bad, i dunno wats wrong no one seems to know on this site either

defently chuck some spray on your belt when it is doing it. my bet is that it will go away even if it is a new belt.

if the belt is on to loose / to tight, then it'll squeal, even if it is a new one.

Why not take a belt off at a time and see if the noise goes away, then you have narrowed it down to what the particular belt drives. I have known A/C clutches to come apart and squeal. Try removing the belts one at a time. If you take all the belts off and it still squeals then you have trouble

hows it goin mate i wld say its pwr steering pump once the pump warms up the squeal will dissapear so i wld say pwr steering pump
