Alright...Now i've been looking around trying to get a bit of an intake hapnin for the fairmont and was lookin at SS inductions...Seems a bit much money for a bit of plastic though...I want to know peoples experiences/Opinions about this option for my car...

Cheers
Dan

I think they are a rip off. You pay $33 for a XR6T snorkle and there is barely any difference, the opening is a little smaller on the XR6T snorkle, but the pipe to the box is as big, if not bigger.

yea i agree with gezza......there was a topic awhile ago someone on here did tests with the different snorkles and it showed the the standard snorkle delievers the best performance for revs above like 3000 and a big one was only really better below that......he used the map sensor readings to test it all.....was a good test....have a search for it if u want. id still go the xr6t or similar

My uncle put an SS induction kit on his XR8 and he said it made "noticable" difference but "nothing to write home to mum about"

i've got an XR8 snorkel on my AUII ghia, it makes a nice difference but again isnt anything worth bragging about. my engine runs cooler, it seems to use less fuel and accelerates a tad harder

On my EL, I had various intake setups.

- stock
- stock + AU XR / T-Series snorkel
- stock + SS Inductions
- 3" mandrel bent pipe + SS Inductions.

Each one added power, the SS Inductions was a good increase, but that coupled with the 3" intake pipe added a significant 3RWKW over the whole rev range. The pipe by itself (tested on another car with a SS induction intake) actually lost low end, and did 2/10ths of f**k all up top.

Now on the GT-P I've just replaced the stock snorkel and typhoon snorkel (both stock) with a APS phase 3 lower snorkel. Which replaces both lower and regular snorkels with one that's 4 times bigger than the typhoon one.

Ive got an SS inductions CAI on my EF but i bought mine second hand. Theres a tiny difference but not much at all. Compared to my standard EF snorkel id say its 4-5 times bigger than standard. If you can get one cheap go for it but for the price they are new your better off getting an XR6T snorkel

I'm running the Aunger which is the same as the SS on my 5.0, i got it for free, it's not something i'd waste my money on.
I didn't notice anything, even fitting the tickford snorkel on my EF, again i noticed nothing.

Amazes me how guys say it was very noticable, i highly doubt that anyone would notice 3 rwkw.

hahahah...

for those who said they got a gain, is it possible that's because your old filter was full of s**t and had jack all flow capacity as a result? :?

I my case, no. dyno runs were done no filter. and back to back, for the 3" mandrel bend intake pipe.

On a stock or near stock engine they are a waste of moola. But as some would know, my EL was running a big cam and I actually had improvements. But definitely no "holy f**k this thing pulls" moments.

I have an SS Inductions snorkel on my EF. I wouldn't pay money for it.

Save the cash on a Mod that gets gains, Like extractors or an exhaust.

i think its to much cash for a little gain...
you should make a 3inch intake pipe with a pod and some sort of airbox, like mine. it'll go better than a ss inductions thingo and cost less ;)
