hey guys, im looking at buyin a stainless exhuast system for my EF and opions needed.
manta Stainless steel extractors tuned for EF falcons are $500 Stainless steel 2.5" exhast and stainless mufller $380 and im gettin a catalytic converter out of a BA XR6 turbo What is everyones opinion on the benefits of stainless systems and the price ( are manta extractors good?) , and does this sort of set up sound beneficial? can you introduse a cat from a BA xr6 turbo into the exhaust system?? My brother and i all installing it if i decide to go ahead so the only costs are the obove...any replys greatly appreciated!! thanks

BA XR6T cat has a single pipe inlet and duel pipe outliet, so unless your going duels no goer.
Why you want stainless steel? In the past were we have used stainless steel due to launching boats and that weve just used mild steel extractors as they don't get wet. The price on the stainless exhaust system is very good. Never heard of manta extractors, have you looked at HM Headers, tehre pretty good, but more exy.n Lukey extractors, which i don't recomend (there exhausts are great but), also come in stainless. Also I think that Difilipo comapny do stainless ones. Not sure if Paceys do, but if they do, I'd recomend there comps. |

has any one else got any opnions...obviously thanks to twr7cx the difficulties of the ba cat have been pointed out.
But does this system sound expensive?? does anyone know if manta extractors are good quality...and just any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mate that set up is far from expensive. A mild steel exhaust will cost $200.00 to $300, so $380 for stainlessn is very good! Pacemaker extractors which are mild are around the $500.00 mark, i'd say there probably better than the manatas, but wouldn't really know, so $500 for the stainless steel mantas is good. It's just that I'd be looking for a better more common well known brand so you know that your getting something good instead of gambling with the unknown Mantas -which might turn out to be great, or might not... |

if u have the money to spend then go ahead. its a cheap price i say. my whole exhaust system would cost me 1000 installed and thats 2.5" cat back red back exhaust, pace comp extractors and hi flow cat. thats IF i go ahead with it anytime soon.
880 for a stainless steel system is far from expensive. but im not sure if the mantas are good or not. never heard of them. just get pacies comps instead of the mantas.

Pacey comps are no good if he wants/need stainless, AFIK they arn't avaliable in stainless only mild with the protection coating. 1000 is very exy for your exhaust mate, I got pacey comps, high flow cat, and Lukey 2 1/2" for under $800 fitted here. Shop around it's the best advice when it comes to exhausts. |

I would highly recommend getting a quality stainless steel system as mild steel (based on my previous experiences) rusts out too quickly (8-12 months). I have a stainless system on my XR6, replacement headers, hi flo cat and a 2 1/2" stainless exhaust, and it set me back $1800.00 (this included instalation). Using mild steel tube in an exhuast system, really isn't suitable for motor vehicle applications (in my opinion). FYI: My car punched out over 130rwk with this set-up (it now punches out 149rwk from a JMM DEV3HL cam )

don't wanna bust ur balls,
but WHY? your young, so therefore its going to be lowered... its only a matter of time till it gets damaged. Unless its going to sit in the garage for 9 years or entering show and shine's with mirrors underneath... why bother with stainless steel? but then again if its the "I've got a S/S exhaust" you really want... go do it! I'd suggest save ur $$ and invest on something worthwhile *group hugs*

Mate im bothering with stainless steel so in a few years time i wont have to be chippin out some rusted pipes and replacing them...
but anyways if anyone knows anything about manta exhausts i would like to hear it coz im not payin for stainless if there not tuned right or i dont get power gains like paceys will give...so any more info would be great! thanks

If you get some info about the extractors it might be easier to offer some advice. What design are they and what are the size of the primary/secondary pipes.
Oh, and with the exhaust, make sure it has stainless welds. My local exhaust place told me that a fair few of them (especially cheap ones) use normal mild steel wire to weld them up.

Normally stainless is much dearer and generally not worth it unless you intend keeping the car for many years. I'm not sure why downingj is only getting 8-12 month out of mild steel, I generally get over 5 years. So you can see why some people would ask you why bother with stainless. Sorry I can't help with the Mantas
