hey everyone, have a slight problem, i've just done the thermo fan conversion in my EB now yesterday and today the car has stalled about 10-12 times in total whilst driving, kinda scary when going 80km/hr too.
Takes a few minutes to start again afterwards. I don't think its fuel related as its a no go on gas or petrol, engine does crank over just doesn't start. Any suggestions on what i can try to fix it? thanks |

Sounds like your ecu is going "WHOA NELLY"
How did you hook up your fans? Manual switch? Davies Craig thermal switch? One of the lucky few to get the fans working off of an EL ecu? If you used the davies craig switch did you follow the instructions for getting the temp set right? In any case it really sounds like the ecu is freaking about the temperature. |

or perhaps the thermofans are drawing too much current. Check the charge rate with the car running and the thermofan running if u can.

yeah with a thermo switch, got it set to come on at about a third, wired up like so
ignition (brake lights) to thermo switch to two relays (one for each fan), +ive for each fan coming from the battery as separate wires. how can i stop the ecu from crashing as such? is simple as re-adjusting the temp which the fans cut in. The highest i've seen the temp gague go since the fans was just over half way. used to sit on half way when had the clutch fan in as well thanks for your fast reply |

have the mid-series instrument cluster so has the battery gauge there, when they first kick in it needle drops one whole section then come back up to just under where is originated from thanks too for your fast reply |

new information now, I'm pretty positive that the thermo fans aren't the cause, I was driving today to the servo to get petrol just a short distance not even enough to get the engine warm let alone the fans on and afterwards the car wouldn't start.
I'm now guessing ignition is the cause, so what would I check to prove it and hence fix it?? cheers |
