Hey guys.... I have a issue with my car stalling by itself every now and again. It usually happens when I come to a stop at the lights. My car is a manual and the revs would drop down to 150 or so and will either stall or return to normal. It also has this issue when just idling.
What can lead to this problem? A faulty throttle/idle control sensor, vacuum issue? Or is it maybe the ECU? |

I've got a spare ISC laying about so I'll swap that over and see how it goes... and when the neighbours aren't around give the throttle body a good clean.

Try things independently so you know the result of each.
Try some injector cleaner.

What would be the best way to clean the throttle body? Remove it from the car then clean it or can it be cleaned while it is still on the car?

Start by cleaning it while running one person on the gas the other cleaning it out with a rag and with the cleaner I got some much carbon out of my throttle body it was unbelievable but if that dont work remove it and then clean it out.

I would suggest not using the rag when the engine is running, if it gets sucked in...you're screwed. Best way to clean it, take the thing off and clean it good...though make sure you have a spare paper gasket (or cereal box and cut up to size) and some medium strength loctite. phong =P~

It has been happening for a while now, even after I fixed my faulty alternator a couple of months ago. I still haven't got around to changing the ISC or spraying throttle cleaner with the car running. I've only had a chance to clean the contacts on the plugs. Plus I regulary run injector cleaner and always fill up with PULP. Plugs have only done 5000km, leads (8.8mm) have done 30000km... coil about 45,000 me thinks. |
