Hi all, a friend of mine has just goten a EB Ford Falcon 4.0ltr Auto, the starter motor in it was dead so thay have put a new one in it from the wreckers, now when the key is turned the starter motor spins and makes a ticking sound but dusnt engage the motor, my thorts on this is that thay havnt lined the startor up proply when installing but i could be wrong, what do you guys think it could be? hope to have a reply any help would be good .

another dodgy starter i reckon

bad earth or battery connections possibly

two bolts hold it in mate... you'd find it almighty hard to get "out of alignment"...
if it ticks it sound like the solenoid ticking as though you have a flat battery or dirty connections... If not I'd would suspect a wrong starter (came from a different vehicle) or a dead starter motor... Cheers, Tim

yer mine does it heaps but i put a xf 1 in my eb i just wait till it stops spining and go again then its fine
