Cars are never ending in needing care! After getting all driveline sorted for vibrations i noticed the drivers side steering rack boot had steering fluid on it. Looking closer i found that the pressure switch is leaking through the plug. Looks like an easy replacment but im sure the switch will be expensive as its not the plain soleniod type in the Gli falcons as mine is speed sensitive steering. Any ideas on how much one of these will set me back?

Remove it an plug it up, I replaced my rack with a V8 one which does not have the switch and I have no issues with it stalling.

Guess i can give that a try by simply unplugging it. Maybe the leaking switch would explain the random heavier steering.

No worries guys i will call around tomorrow for prices and grind down an old 14mm spanner if needed. I was thinking they would be around the $100 mark as some of the soleniods in the BTR trans cost an arm, leg and ur house!

What does the switch do for SSPS that would make it a different switch?

Last time i bought one it cost me $20 from Bursons, you'll definately need a very flat spanner, without it they are a b**ch.

Was real easy to change! just cut a 14mm spanner in half and that was it. took about 10min to change with cleaning up the dripped fluid. Maybe they changed the width of the nut on my pressure switch as i had no problems with a standard size spanner fitting on. The revs actually increase now when the wheel is turned so the old one must have been realy stuffed. Thanks for all the input guys.

im pretty sure the switch is the same for all "E" series 4.0l's - the difference in SSPS rack is the pinion housing and a soleniod mounted on the opposite side of the switch in the pinion housing

Thanks, so there would be no reason the switch would be dearer than a standard one.
