hey everyone, got a weird idle problem at the mo...........the car seems to rev too high once its warmed up but i cant adjust it at the idle screw cos its real touchy (little bit back it'll stall and a little bit forward it revs to high).
the strangest thing is when the cars headlights are on it idles normal but as soon as i turn them off it'll stall straight away, and when i put it in park or neutral with the lights on it stalls also. i was thinking maybe a vacuum leak but there dosent seem to be one, it most probably something electrical like a bad earth but i'm not sure. its a KE laser by the way (STILL A WONDERFUL LITTLE FORD ) any idea's peoples????? |

when you turn your headlights on they cause the alternator to kick in, and the extra load from the alternator lowers the idle..

this is the opposite when the lights are on the idle is higher, not lower.
when the lights are turned off the car stalls instantly. |

not sure how the idle control works on a laser but id say turning the headlights on is causing the idle control to come up, sounds like base idle isnt set high enough... or the idle control needs a good clean... have no idea about where or what it looks like, you need a service manual
