there is no strocker kit for the 4L.
imo the stock is long enough as it is, it doesnt need to be any longer. to stroke it, the stock crank would need to be offset ground.

thats cool
there are of the shelf kits availble for most of the v8 & now for the v6 but there is nothing avalible as an of the shelf kit for a i6 yet, the same with the 4 cylinders it manly comes down to is there a demand, thats why there are only 2 companies in Austrlia that do of the shelf stroker kit for the Ausie 308 motor & only one dose the v6, compaird to the Ford v8 windsor & clevland where there is more of a demand especialy from the USA which is where most of our Ford kits come from. thanks Joe......... |

a "stroked" I6 4.0 SOHC engine is just "what the doctor ordered" to fend off those pesky 4.0 barra engines with their "twin cams advantage".....

4.0's are already 'stroked'.
There are negligible advantages and several disadvantages to stroking it any further.

Something to think about:
It is generally regarded that a rod length to stroke ratio of 1.6 is the smallest you would want to go without starting to put particularly high loads on the cylinder sidewalls. The AU I6's have a rod length to stroke ratio of about 1.55 and the AU's have the best ratio of all the SOHC 4.0L I6's. So considering that the falcon I6's have an already high cylinder sidewall load then increasing the load on the sidewalls, by increasing the stroke might not be the best idea...

what about de-stroking a 4.0l could that have some advantages it would make them more able to rev wouldn't it

Joe. yeh i know, but i wasn't going into detail. it will be awesome to see how your 4L and some will go, good to see some one trying different things.

Many years ago, they would stroke a 202 Red motor using a 221 Ford crank, cut off the Ford rear crank flange and put on the Red motor one, not sure which rods they used, but gave the 202 a new CID of 235.
If I remember, the had to put deeper knotches in the cam for the extra throw of the rods for clearence, put scollops in the bottom of the cyl bores to, and more knotches in the pan rail of the block, just the inside edge. The only safe way to get more cubes out of 4.0 I6 would be another block with a larger bore, maybe another 4 to 6mm.

its possible to get the 250/4L out to 300in/5L but they havent managed to get one to run yet.
i whouldent bother stroking it if anything destroke it down to 3.6L and let the bugger rev. if you want to increase over 4L then wet sleve it and have 3.8in pistons at least then your bring it back to square.
