Can you guys tell me what is this and how to fix this light on the dashboard. I recently upgraded dushboard cluster from base model to "S pack" cluster. When I turn the car on this light comes up. Where the sensor for this light is? I thought it is the plug just under the coolant tank as shown on the photo. Tried to short circuit it but nothing happens and the light stays on. Also does this type of cluster has a light for low level fluid for windscreen wipers?

yea, its the low coolant level light, not sure where the plug is tho
the cluster *should* have a low washer fluid light as well

Just done a reply for the same thing on another forum.
Dont take the lazy out. Get a header tank from the wrecker with the sensor in it. E series are prone to overheating so anything that gives a warning the better. This will let you know when you are low on water for any reason well befor the temp gauge tells you. Unless you blow a hose and dump all your water very quickly and even then you will notice the alarm light befor the temp gauge has gone up.

just a thought, i don't know if this is correct, but on mine if the coolant is low the light dosent come on for a few seconds after start up.
This makes me think their is some sort of circuitry that delays the light coming on to prevent the light flickering as you drive across rough roads and cause the coolant to slosh. how long did you leave the plug shorted out for?

You are right there is a few seconds delay
Also there two resistances used in the circuit. The sensor has to have a resistance between the two so the light stays off, when the sensor operates it changes the resistance and the light comes on a few secs later. This is to prevent the sensor not working if the wiring breaks or shorts out. So if the light is on and the water is fine it may be that the wire is broken or shorted out. Of course it could be a faulty sensor. They have tried to protect the engine as much as possible

I made a short circuit on that plug just for a few seconds if even that long. Is this where you plug in the sensor for low coolant? Also tried the same method for windscreen water level, cause there are a few free plugs near the washer tank, but nothing didn't come up on the dushboard. Yea I'm actually a bit confused for those plugs... Even if I buy sensor for low coolant how the hell do I know where to plug that in. The same case applys for windscreen wshr sns. I found a sensor on wreckers on S model EBII for 10 bucks, but don't know where to plug it in! It was funny cause a guy that works there didn't even know that some ED models have that, and then I started asking myself does mine cluster really have this light? And if answer is yes then where to plug it in? Well, I guess Ill have to go back there to see wiring again, cause whoever you ask about theese sort of things there nobody can't answer this for sure.

cluster pin assignment
You should have a 12 pin and 16 pin connector on the rear of your cluster. On the 16 pin connector pin9 is low coolant should be a Yellow red wire Pin 10 Low washer pink yellow It will take a resistor of 1380 ohms to turn the light off so a short or open circuit will not fix the prob.all being well and your connector has the same colour wires( some dont) you may find a connector near the header tank with two wires one should be yellow red ( i just looked in another manual and it says Red Green) If you go to the mods area on this forum and look at Changing insrtument Clusters you will see the pin outs etc Hope this helps.

mmkay pulled out the camera. i hope this helps a bit.
Wires exiting conector is black and yellow and these go straight into the harness. If the ED is the same as my EB, then thats not the right connector.
