You dont need to flush an Engine. Those "Engine Oil Flushes" they sell at the Auto Stores are all just Marketing s**t. If you do your Oil Changes Regularly every 10000Km or so then you do need to do it. I have got 195K on my EL and to this day *touch wood * has never used or Burnt a drop of Oil, and Ihave never used those Oil flushes when Changing the Oil.

Thanks Dudes ! pour 250mls of degreaser and 250mls of diesel into your engine and let it run for about 20 - 30min the drain the oil and replace the oil filter. it breaks down and gets rid of the sludgey s**t in the block

i wouldnt use the degreaser as it breaks oil down and i wouldnt want any of that left in my engine when im relying on a tiny amount of oil to hold my crank away from the bearing.... but yes deisel oil is good to use its high in safe detergents...

most of the engine flushing agents reccomend u dont use them on a 100000km + engine unless its been used from new.. as it can clean it too got and make the car blow smoke.. ive seen cars at work come on for a service, have engine flush put in them, and blow smoke ever since, in the 3 weeks it took us to realise the engine flush was a bad joke... if your gonna use it, the wynns stuff seems to be the best.. and the lubrimax/fortron stuff is s**t

Yep i did it once. And looking back it wasn't the smartest thing to do. I did it on an LD astra (n13 pulsar) and after the flush it chewed through quite a bit of oil. I would only recomend it in certain circumstances as you will find that your clearences may be opened up a bit and your engine may operate a bit noisier especially if its got high mileage.
Apparently kerosene or transformer oil can double up as a half decent engine flush. |

Hmmmmmm.... then how do i get my oil back to a nice and clean looking oil. it only takes 5 minutes after a oil change for it to look 10k old oil again.

not deilsel oil, deisel as in the fuel from the bowser. also you have to remeber your only using 250ml it not alot. yes it does thin the oil a little and in the end the bulk of it comes out when you drain the oil. compare what would be left over from 250ml after a oil drain and then that mixed with 5.5l of fresh oil it would hardly be enough to do anything to the new oil. it was just a sugestion. ive done it in my car not that long ago when i had noisy tappets and it fixed it up good and proper

Grab a few oil filters and some cheapER (not cheap, cheapER) oil... 5L of valvoline only like 20 bucks...
Just do an oil and filter change every weekend until it starts coming out clean. Then put some decent s**t in, new filter and you're good for 10,000km (or 5,000 if you're a die hard)... I've also heard the diesel oil theory... maybe have a look around the web for some second/third opinions?

Never put Diesel oil into an engine that has been running on standard oil. Diesel oil detergent will remove the carbon that has built up over time from around the oil rings and your engine will start to use oil.
I have seen this done several times and the only way out of it is to rebuild the bottom end. You can run diesel oil in a petrol engine but it must be done from the first service, if I ever get to buy a brand new car I will be doing this. If you have no sludge in the top end you do not have to worry about flushing the engine. What oil are you using??
