Hay i have a major leak coming from the front of my engine, mechanics are tossed up between the Balencer seal or the sump. I went to a wrecker for an engine exchange and i have only just found out they used an EL sump with silicone on my AU bottom end!
There is an AU conversion thread on here that recomends either cutting the K frame or shaving an AU sump at the front for clearence, so i guess my question is can the wrong sump cause a massive leak that will look like a balencer seal??

If you are able to support the motor from above (block & tackle) I believe you can unbolt and drop the frame out the way, but that is with an EF crossmember and sump.
Timing cover gasket set from Sprints aren't much, they have the balancer seal in there as well. |

I did that once and will never do it again. Way too hard to get the gasket to line up when the line up points are on the motor, not the sump.

Wow hold the phone. Have you made sure it's not the timing chain tensioner o-ring thats leaking. Common as. The o-ring goes hard and leaks oil. Depending on how bad it is it may leave alot of oil on the ground pretty quick. Id check that before you pull the engine out. You will notice oil run on top of the water pump and down onto the alternator side of the engine.

obviously not. Why would you keep driving with such a large leak and not be checking oil levels on a frequesnt basis?

Short answer is yes, but it happend just after i started her, it cranked fired, put it into reverse and she stoped....tried starting again and she didnt move it made the sound they make that second after u turn the key, then it only smoked the earth wire trying to draw current. I tried hand cranking it and it wouldn budge its dead.

Sorry mate, wasn't meaning to sound harsh. Hopefully it wasn't a too costly exercise at the end of it all, still its a prick to have to deal with.
