i was under the impression that there was no australian car ever sold with a big block??

there were pallet loads of the big blocks back in the 80's. 400cid cleveland to the 428 cobra jet, the 429boss & 460. even a 460 stroke to 510 cubic inch. don't know if engine importers still stock them this day's. it was mostly aftermarket staff back then.

I wonder if COMES engines are still around.

not sold with any. but Bill Bourke had an XW with a 428 COBRA JET big block. factory built fully street reg'd as well. it was the first ever falcon to have a the SHAKER scoop!! (with a tastey cobrajet badge one scoop)

it was black with gold metalic flake and gold GT/ superroo decal
had a Nascar 'R' servo C6 3 speed auto
31 spline axle 3.5:1 gears
rear drums
front disk

mustang mach one high back front seats in black and grey

and so it IS legal to put anything up to a 428 in an XW/XY

I have a eb2 I6 auto with paceys, exhaust,xh snorkel,bmc,thermos,3:45lsd and 15 deg ignition timing. my mate has a eb1 xr8 with paceys,exhaust,k+n,3:27 lsd and is manual. from 70 kmh we are dead even to 160kmh and then he starts to pull away. On take off its pretty close but he pulls 1 car length and then we are even again {he doesnt pull away } untill 160. I reckon its cos hes is a manual but im still happy to sit beside him and it pisses him off cos he uses almost double the fuel. go the I6,easier to work on,cheaper on fuel, not as heavy and plenty of room for mods[turbo or blower] :D :D :D

www.capa.com.au

The kits start around 6 grand and you can go upwards from there. Can install yourself if you know how to spin a spanner...

Or i'll do it for a reasonable fee :) lol
