Ive got the Vortech on mine, very easy to fit and makes great power, i love the way it goes. With the 4.10 gears its very responsive and they suit the power delivery of the Vortech to a tee. With 215rwkw the car ran 13.28 @ 106 mph in 9 degree weather (no intercooler) . Since then i put on a Intercooler with a smaller pulley and it made 243rwkw @ 4800 rpm then the power dips and picks up again. Ive got some little gremlins to sort out that are holding it up up top, but im expecting it to make between 250-260rwkw with those issues sorted and it should run anywhere from 12.5-12.7.

What boost levels are those figures at XRCIST? I'm putting a Rotrex on my NC, so it will be interesting to see what power I make, and times I run (BTR, 3.27 gears, Fairlane)

I have a hand over price of thirteen on an xr6 turbo Ute at moment but i could get this supercharged for 8 however bye bye warranty i guess it will all depend on how im feeling come decision day As i am still a few dollars off either option. Thanks guys will def post a build thread if i do it though! seems close untill you put all the other bits you will get in the turbo. such as the stronger series LSD, internal engine upgrade and all the other parts that the turbos get over the n/s version to make them stronger and the turbo will come out alot cheaper in the end.

When i ran the 13.2 it was with a restrictive intake and the car was only making 215. With the intercooler it made 243 @ 8psi at 4800rpm. It makes 12psi at 6000rpm but I dont expect it to make power past 5400 though with the BBM manifold and standard cams. It still has the butterfly valves in which is what i think is giving me grief in the top end. It will certainly be interesting on the NC! I highly recommend going for a lower diff ratio though.

I'm aiming for around 230rwkw, using up to 18psi. The 3.27 gears are staying until the car gets a manual and built motor with a snail off the side. I will not be taking mine past 5500rpm.....

obie89 wrote: thanks for the info guys pretty keen to have something different but god the turbo is attractive. My reason for not wanting to trade just yet is that i have done the sound system, installed gauges, lowered it, installed full ss induction kit growler plus big mouth air dam painted the wheels all the usual bits to make it feel like mine you know just started to feel like my car and not just a car lol. And yep i would be getting it done legally. To legally do, an after market blown/turbo setup on a n/a XR6, you'd be spending enough money to BUY a F6 and GT*. Seriously. Continue with your plans if you want to be different, but be under no illusion that it's the smart option (trade in on a factory turbo). *a guy at work, is building his own car, adding to it a Nissan VG30DETT motor, because the car is new, the engine must be made to comply with modern emissions (like modifying a FG motor would be), he's spend the best part of 2 years, and $70,000 in tuning, retuning, mods, dyno time, test after test after test (14 in total IIRC, at like $900 each) to get it certified. He's only just got it certified.

yes yes i know trade in on a turbo blah blah blah, however raptor now has available an fg specific 4 litre kit for five grand all parts included except for the flash tuning device, not to bad at all for a little more accelaration, and compliance isn that big of a deal in queensland its pretty easy actually, its good to get everyones opinion though as everyones varies so much on this issue lol. the turbo sounds the option as im not one brave enough to experiment so much with my daily driver lol, but i have checked the raptor kits and read what many different people have to say about them and its 99% good.
cheers. chriso.

+1 on being easy to get it engineered in qld. I just got my 1995 ef xr6 mod plated for the turbo and the guy came to my work had a look under my bonnet and wrote up the certificate and modification plate in 15 mins. Cost me 330 dollars a one of payment. No
Emission testing or anything he didn't even start the car. I also had a blow off valve to atmosphere and the pod filter wasn't in an airbox. Also my brakes are still standard exept for slotted and drilled front rotors and he passed the thing easy! All he was concerned about was heat shielding in the engine bay to protect fuel and brake lines and that the workmanship wasn't dodgy. That was about it.

Just cause you got a dodgy, doesn't mean it's right.
Dunno how often inspectors/engineers are checked in QLD, but here in Canberra a few 'lax' engineers lost their licenses (accreditation) recently for doing half a*** jobs, passing cars that shouldn't have been.

Thats not a dodgy, thats the QLD standard. providing the setup is not a half a*** piece togeter job, it is that easy to have it legal.

And a few other ones I spoke to said they would of happily passed my car. But they were a few hours drive from me. And my set up is by no means dodgy. I've done everything the right way the first time.
