Ok guys sorry if this has been asked but ive just spent the last 20 mins searching for this and couldnt find anything...
http://www.aufalcon.com.au/Tech/techintake2.htm This is a supplimentry intake for the AU's. Has anyone done this to their EF/EL's . Is this a good idea as i was thinking of doing this but wasnt sure if it was only for the AU's that this suplimentry intake will work. Cheers

i was thinking of doing a very similar mod but is that piping just sitting infront of the headlight? and if it was wouldnt it be sucking hot air instead of air directlyt from outside? i could be wrong but thats why im asking

the above is performed on an XR, and so air can enter around the headlight, on non xr models this wouldn't be effective at all.

check how much air would be able to get in via the area around the head lights.

Never seen this before and is a better alternative to cutting a hole in the passenger guard to get a pipe running down to the brake duct in the bumper (for insurance and legal purposes).
Also it wouldnt be sucking in hot air it would be very close to that of outside temp as it simply goes through the gaps in the headlight/surrounds to the pipe. *runs outside to check if its possible on ef xr*

I'll take some picture's of my airbox & the supplimentry hose between the rad & head light. the reason is, my head lights are sealed. not like the XR.
It made a diffrence when I replaced the standard snorkle with the tickford one. but made even better emprovement with the extra hole/hose.

what if you wacked a pod on the end of the box with the hole behind it? i know then you would have 2 filters but would it matter? and you could fit a tube going from the hole under the headlight where the fog light is meant to go and run a duct so that it directs air over the extra hole with or without the pod

I had the same setup on my Bluebird SSS Attessa and I didnt notice much of a power gain just a more smoother acceleration. Bu picture on the link seems to be a nice hidden setup, ill prob give it a go though...!!!

I did this to my ef last year. There is a topic on it somewhere.
I used a hole saw to cut the hole out, and got some touch up paint and ran around the bare metal bits with it. I can't say i feel more power but any bit counts. I do think it's a tad smoother.

ladies, make the intakes smmooooth like Barry White!
There's a lot of rough edges to cause a whole lot of turbulence........ less peformance |

Agreed!! Use PVC drain pipe and joins rather than that flexi stuff that will slow down air flow
