just recently (today) i got a wierd surging/shuddering kind of thing, at about 4000rpm up in 2nd gear and from 1300-1500rpm in 4th, i get this shudder, it doesnt happen in any other gears, but it kind of feels like its not getting fuel, and only running of 5 cylinders

i had the same problem mate yet i had a 6cyl Ea .. we found it was a small box on the fire wall just on the right hand side of the car that had one big vacum hose coming out .. if it gets a hole or becomes loose the car would miss .. if not my next idea would be thrust bearing
