dont really need a new comp.. more a 20c resistor will do the job i have been told

Most of all my manual conversions have used the same AUTO ECU ... The resistor mod works - No need for a manual ECU ... IMO .

The resistor mod works fine, done it to my car, and all is sweet. 20c resistor... must be a good brand lol, more like 2-5c, and you need two of them.

As for licencing, meh. lol, if they wanted to know, they'd ask. Im sure there's nothing wrong with it... as if they care if its an auto or a manual :roll:

Insurance on the other hand, might wanna know.

Senus, you're gonna have to ask FTG, I wouldn't know. And I can't quite remember if the ECU came with the conversion or not...

The reason why the ECU needs to be a manual one (or an auto resistorised), is cos the auto ECU needs for one the neutral switch to start, then there's the temp sender, and the inhibator switch I think. With no resistance on the TEMP sensor, the thermo fans are on 24/7. As for the other sensors, the neutral switch needs to be closed. And another resitor on the inhibitator (spelling) switch to stop the engine from rev hunting.

So with an auto ecu, the car has fans on all the time, and the revs go up and down.

Thanks for all the info guys seems like alot of ppl are interested in this conversion also! i was a mechanic by trade so the installation is no problem a weekend with a few mates will do me fine! just want to make sure i get a full kit that dosent require any other parts. so is there any1 in victoria that can make these up??? also where is the resistor fitted in the ECU?

make what up? the kit?

The resistors go on the old auto connector under the bonnet, near the firewall... The round plug, with lots of wires.
