In fact I'll go as far as to say that I can't remember the last time a taxi driver said anything bad about a Ford in general let alone a BA???

thats exactly right, I have been in many ef and el taxis with 890,000 kays or even more on them (too drunk to remember maybe he he) and they still drove well even on their original engine gearbox and diff. In brisbane there is a locksmith mob that buys used taxis to drive around and they have an ef wagon an au sedan and a mitsubishi van. now the van costs more to run/repair every year than it did to buy the ef taxi wagon. this dude also said the au's wiring was starting to fail where it runs through the firewall etc (900,000k) and the ef was fine. mind you he had garden hose for heater hose in this ef and was the filthiest engine bay i had ever seen in a car. it had been rear ended by a rodeo and the rodeo was written off. (ef had over 1,050,000k) on it. EITHER way i think we are on the money buying a falcon over a commodore cheers

Iv'e been driving cabs since the Xfs. The xfs where the best out of all for reliabilty. The ea 2 ed where very good aswell. The EL we found where just plain rubbish unless you had a factory gas one. Other wise it was just a constant pain with motors and minor break downs. The Au and Au2 where tops. Can't kill them. The BA are just plain rubbish. The depo I drive from has just decided to go to all Camry's and get rid of the falcons.

The most amount of Ks I have ever seen on a cab was 658000. Not sure how you can clock up over 800000. Most the time cabs arte sitting at the depos with out drivers. I always drive the same cab from the time it becomes a cab until it is retired. 3 of us keep the car on the road 24\7 and never have made it to 700000
