this is a stupid question to ask, but how do the temp and oil gauge work, i feel mine are not working the way they should be.
like the oil gauge tonight when i was just driving i noticed when at lights with no acceleration oil gauge went down then when i started driving it when back up again. then with the temp gauge it went to around m and a and then hardly even moved after that which is odd because doesnt it meant to when it gets to a certain temp the fans kick in to cool it down and the temp drops on the gauge. i could be just making fuss over nothing but then again i could be wrong, i have just not long ago put some new fuses in the car one one of them had something to do with the temp gauge. |

the oil pressure guages are electric in these cars and are as about as reliable as leaving a kiwi and a sheep in a room and saying stay. the temp guage is about right. temperature is meant to build to operating tempture and stay very close to there with minimal fluctuation. on a hotter day you might see more as the fans will be working harder, but it shouldnt really move more than maybe 1 letter under normal conditions.

the temp gauge has generally moved around two letters on a normal day from memory, but yeah i think since its very cold over here at moment, maybe thats also got something to do with it, the reason the fuses were changed in the car because someone actually put the wrong ones in there, the mechanic was surprised he didnt notice it sooner, cost me an arm and a leg for the fuses tho 3 fuses from ford costed like $80

if you get a decent aftermarket oil gauge, you can literally watch the needle move around as the pressure changes. As far as I know there is something in the factory set up to make the movemts more subtle...
