Hey guys,
Just wondering if a multi meter would be able to test injector pulse? Or is it too slow to read it? I have no spark and there fore i want to check injector pulse to confirm in the dizzy before i change it out. Cheers guys Jamin |

Hi,
Digital multimeter will be way too slow... You may see it with an analogue meter... There are proper neon testers for this purpose though... If you have no spark it will be one of three things... PIP Module TFI Module Coil I am in the process of making up testers to identify the problem in one step... It simulates the PIP pulse... If I were you I'd be checking the coil negative with a filament test lamp (not a LED lamp or multimeter) and see if the coil negative is going to ground... If it is, you need a new coil, if not its in the dizzy... But hard to identify whether its the PIP or TFI, TFI is easily changed I'd trying replacing that first and they are most prone to heat stroke and being fried... Cheers, Tim

you can check for injector pulse with a test light, simply put the test light between the 12v pin and the trigger wire on the injector plug and crank the engine, it will flash each time it pulses..
easy.... |

yeah forgot about test light... And because its cranking its only fairly slow engine speed anyway, makes seeing it easier... Unsure whether it'd would with a LED one but I think it would being slow...
Cheers, Tim

A cheap multimeter won't help you.
One of mine shows the pules on a graph at the bottom of the screen. The easy way is to go down to jaycar and buy one 12V LED then you just poke the legs down the back of the injector plug. |

Yeah thought of testing it with a LED but didn't have one today ... Also it's not the coil as I have replaced the coil, dizzy cap, rotor, leads n plugs

With a new one? I'd be guessing the TFI (external module) would be the next most likely culprit...
Cheers, Tim
