Iv'e just tested a new profile from Wade Cams called 1636, and I am extremely pleased with it.

If you are looking for something a little more meatier than the 1604 profile this is the cam for you.

I put it in Tuesday 26/07/05 an couldn't wait to try it out, it has more lift than 1604 and I am running it with an auto with extractors and 2.5 inch zorst and 985 plugs and no valve spring issues like bounce or pinging.

The thing is, not only do you have power, but way more torque to get you off the line, the power starts real low I recon 1200/1800 RPM right thru to 5000+ RPM, It pulls hard and gets you up to speed fast.

Once it is at 80 or 100 k's the engine feels like it is ticking over but as soon as accelerate, it goes hard.

You can run a standard ECU and I just upped the RPM 50 to 100.

Yeh I know I have only had it in for 1 day but it is gruntier than the 1604 profile. I ran it in Economy mode and it didn't hold back.

Keith from Wade has said its okay to tell you that they are now available for both auto's and manual's. Dont forget to mention Fordmods for your discount.

for regrind - yep. Send them your cam, they grind it to the new profile and send it back. Then you add some shims to the rocker arms to make up for the metal they took off and then your car goes faster...

The inlet and exhaust opening and closing angles are nearly the same as the 1604 profile, the big difference if the valve lift is nearly .490 range.

If you want to send a cam to Wade, go to bunnings and get some stormwater pipe around 90 mm and some inspection cap with screw on ends. Glue the ends on with pipe glue, it not that expensive.

Nowe wrap your cam up in an old towel or clean newspaper and put some paper on the end inside the pipe and put the cam in and put some paper in this end and screw the cap on and tape up both ends with say packing tape.

On your computer print out wades address and you details, It should weigh around 7 kilos, postage from Adelaide to Victoria was 15 dollars.

Arrange for Chris to phone you and pay for the cam and postage, I prefer registered.

I think the cam was around $140.00, see Wades forum for the prices on the 1604 profile, Its the same price.

Dont forget you will need shims ( From Ford or the wreckers) and new Lash adjuster retainer clips ( Coventry or Repco).

I recon you can take one to them, best way is to get one from the wreckers, a little bit of work, In Adelaide we have Upullit parts and a cam is about 40 bucks but pick a good one nice smoothe lobes and runners.

And you get to keep your original cam.
