Hello everyone
Finally got my car back on the road after many years of being parked collecting dust. After a week or so of driving, the car was flawless, until the early hours of this morning. Driving along at constant 80km/hr the car just cut out, no warning, no spluttering...just died. From my experience, that is either a coil or TFI module. Although from said experience, the car would start again after letting it cool down for a bit...this time however, nothing. Coil and TFI have never been replaced with a new one...just second hand working ones. So I have sourced a new Bosch TFI module and NGK coil that I will be putting in and hopefully that will fix the issue, however I want to make sure these items don't die due to heat so wanting to relocate them. Where have people relocated their units? Move the coil further down towards the chassis rail or up and forward towards air box? Also will there be issues with resistance with an extended lead? Where is a good idea for the TFI? I was thinking below the air box, from memory there might be a small space for it to sit under and slap on a heat sink or something but that might be overkill. Thank you all in advance!

See pages 29 (5th post from Bottom of page) and 31 (9thof post from top page) for TFI Relocation in TimmyA's thread

Thanks SWC for the information and TimmyA for having done it!
The coil relocation looks good and easy enough! TFI module on the other hand...extending the cables might be a bit of a headache but got to be done! Thanks again

A few more for you Phong.
Coil sits on a bracket on the A/C compressor top mount bolt and spacer - you do need to shorten the coil HT lead. The heatsink for the TFI is jaycar HH8566, needs fins cut. Timmy's setup is probably better - mine needs two leads, one to go to the 'dummy' TFI, and one to go to it's plug.

You can also make some simple inline TFI testers as well.
Pull the ECU fault codes in your case (erratic or no PIP) - the hall effect sensor may've died - pretty rare, but possible.

I ended up putting everything back to their original locations, only because I needed the car in a hurry and didn't get time to find all the parts needed to relocate. Will hopefully get some time to do that over the Christmas break...but with a new house that seems near impossible. I bought an NGK coil, and it seemed larger than the original and had a bigger heat sink with a bigger bracket placing it further away from the engine block. Looked like a better design, but I will most likely move it further from the block just in case. I will have to get the jaycar heatsink and go from there with the TFI. Extending the wires will be a bit fiddly but if time permits, will definitely get it done. I just realised I threw out the old TFI...which was meant to be my dummy *face palm*. Cheers
