I suspect the TFI module on my ED may be playing up so was thinking of buying one from the wreckers to try. To replace the TFI module is it simply a case of unplugging it then unscrewing it then putting the new one on or is there more to it than that?
Cheers

when you change the tfi module you need to use heatsink paste between the tfi and dizzy.
otherwise the replacement tfi wont last long.. |

thats about it.
i dunno wat a wrecker would charge for one but i got one for about $30-$35 delivered off ebay.supplied with the special compound your supposded to use, which as i understand is very important. so if it works, (like it did for me in same scenario) then you simply leave it in and forget about it till next time.

the hall effect sensor plays up in these as well as the bush flogs out. you can buy complete brand new dizzies cheap on ebay now. might not hurt to lash out.

Be careful with the cheap ebay dizzy's. Some have stuffed their aux shaft due to them.

yer i dunno bout the cheap dizzy for longivity.... the tfi got me out of trouble.
if your going to all the drama of changing the dizzy you don't want to have to do it again, and you deffinately don't want auxillary shaft troubles.

It is better to replace the whole dizzy...look at the age of the car, worn bushing, TFI on the blink.
If you fit a new dizzy, fit a new coil and HT lead set too. With a new dizzy, you get a cap and rotor too.
