After the recent floods (month or so ago) up here on the Tweed / Gold Coast, there has been some pretty s**t fuel out there. I had a real bad tank with water in it. Anywho, i sorted that out then recently my car would rev to about 3500rpm and basically sit at that struggling till it changed up a gear. if it did go past it it would cough and f@rt around. I put it down to blocked fuel filter.

I just had it changed to a brand new 1 ($44 from ford, no one else stocks the right aftermarket one) and same thing. Is it just a lot of s**t in the tank or could it be something more serious???

Cheers guys.

there is the air intake manifold on the passenger side of the engine inside the manifold u will find the intake runners ( 1 for each cylinder ) and it is also a dual length. meaning it has a short path and a long path for the air to flow depending on rpm and load.
Dellboy999 is suggesting that the switching of the different paths is not working.. i dont think this is your problem. as the engine will rev with either path no dramas u will loose torque thats about it.

you may need to have the injectors cleaned ie at ford as the dirt that could have built up may be too much for the injecotr cleaner to work.

also what is the ignition like, how old are the plugs and leads?

Plugs & Leads are new. No probs there, just got issues with Fuel at the moment.

Thanks for the info on hte runners, didnt know there were two paths there.

Cheers
