i own a 2000 au2 futura and it needs, among other things, a new radiator.
can anyone tell me whether its only a matter of swapping the old 1 for a new 1 and pressurising the system, or do i need to go all out and replace pumps, thermostats the whole kit and kaboodle, and if so how much could this whole operation potentially cost me? thanx

best thing to do is replace the water pump and radiator together and thermosstat that way you dont have old grime and crap laying around

EF-AU Run the same water pump you can risk a overseas one off ebay for 30 bucks or a gen ford for 90 i think

there is no real need for a new water pump if the current one is working and not leaking.
just flush the system out befor fitting the new rad. a new thermostat is a good idea but again there is no real need if the current one is working |

yeah there is no need to buy you might as well that way you ahve the whole system new and clean and no probs at all

ive heard that these engines can have problems with overheating if the cooling system is not working to its full potential.
but ive also heard that these engines are indestructable and have a system built into place where if the engine starts to get too hot it starts shutting down cylinders..

There is no way a series II Au shoudl be needing a replacement water pump at this stage. By the same token though, I wouldn't have thought they would need new radiators yet either.
My EB untill recently had the original water pump, thermostat and housing and radiator. I changed it as it was starting to get a touch hot but only with the A/C on. The EB is now 13 years old whereas the AU is lucky to be 5. I think you should look at getting your radiator professionally flushed before looking to replace it. Even if the factory coolant had never been replaced, I doubt it would be corroded yet. Probably jsut a bit blocked up in the core.

seen a few AU's that need replacemnt rads as the tanks on teh AU2 onwards are plastic and can go
all you have to do is replace the rad. give teh cooling system a good flush and replace the rad ( you will need to work through the front bumper ) uses distelled water and a bottle of red line water wetter it is the s**t

Replace the Radiator with a new 3 core radiator and stick in a good coolant suited to the AU and cooling problems are solved

not a taxi rad it a AU1 rad the au1's or EX COP cars have the metal tanks nto the plastic liek teh au2/3's
