Could be one of the cylinders has a miss as well.
But the EF oil filled engine mounts do tend to collapse over time (after all, it is about 18 years old) and that does create that lovely 'Falcon Rumble' as a mate of mine put it. Take a look at the mounts, and if you can see the metal of the top part of the mount touching the frame of the car it's FUBAR. I advise replacing them, if you need to, with the EL type rubber mounts as the original type are extremely pricey. And that's IF you can find someone who still stocks them.

I don't think it would be the exhaust as that would have more of a rattling noise to it, however it could be hitting on a part of the underbody. Jack the drivers side up and put it on axle stands (or a ramp if you have one) and have a look with the engine running. (In park, with the handbrake on and wheels chocked of course!) Best to do this when she's cold as the exhaust heats up pretty damn fast, start from the front and work back.

You need to support the engine some how to remove the mounts. Best is engine crane and lifting it up a little, but you can try and hold the engine from below as well. This may cause some damage to the sump though.
