The fans are not adjustable but what you describe does not seem out of the ordinary, they are not ment to be on when the engine is cold.

The thermo sensor is a problem on EF/EL/AU. You can but a new one from a Ford dealer, part number 6810428 $67.50.

Thanks for your feedback guys, really appreciate it.

Btw when I said running at low temp I meant Temp gauge at about 1/4 to half, then from 1/2 to 3/4 the fans cut in.
Thanks again.

Had a similar problem a while back.
When operating correctly, both fans should turn on and run at half speed at around 80 degC.
At approximately 105 degC or A/C turned on, the fans switch to full speed and this may be what you are experiencing.
The root cause of my problem was the Fan Control Relays located behind passenger side headlight. I replaced the 2 fan relays as the old ones had burnt contacts and are not really serviceable. These fans draw in excess of 20 Amps, so be sure to buy a correctly rated relay.
Mine were $22 each from Autotraders SA, but a cheaper equivalent may be available.

Good Luck!
