Hi All,

I am about to tackle thermo fan conversion and serpentine belt conversion down the track but just need to clarify a few things before i start. ive tried sifting through search info but still seems unclear to me.

Ive got an EL XR ECU which is an auto, is this required to be installed to run thermos or will they run off current ECU. Also with resistor trick, from what i understand its 7.5Kohm between pin 30 and pin 46.Firstly is this correct? and are ecu pins just counted out left to right or whats the best way to located these pins?

Sorry for the noob questions just wanna get it clear.

ECU pins are numbered in the big grey plug that goes into the computer... Not sure whether numbers are on the bottom or under the red retainer that clips into the back... Can't remember now...

If you wish to trigger fans of a computer then yes an EL computer of any sort is required to control EL fans (EF fans are different)

Wiring is something along the lines of this for 2 speeds (EL ECU)...

Can't help you with resistor values though as I went for the J3 chip route and had my computer changed to manual...

Cheers,
Tim

After attempting to install thermos into an XG ive realized an issue i have regarding the differences between EEC-IV ECU currently runs it and EEC-V ECU thats required. In followed AFF write up using tridon thermatic switch.

Am i going to have to convert to EEC-V or is there another way of doing it? Is EEC-V required when using Davies Craig kit?

Cheers

Hi,

You have two options, the way I went where I will use the EEC-V to trigger the fans...

Or...

You install a thermatic switch to trigger the fans...

The EEC-IV does not has thermofan triggering capability... So one of the two above mentioned methods must be used...

If you go with an EEC-IV computer you will need to have it J3 chipped to suit the log manifold, or you convert to BBM at the same time...

Cheers,
Tim

So basically... yes i will need to convert to EEC-V?

Not if you run a separate switch to turn them on... If you run a tridon switch you can keep your EEC-IV...

Cheers,
Tim

Thats a relief Timmy.id pretty much wired it all up but for some reason thought i required a EEC-v to run it all. It it will run without it that great, thanks for the advise.
