I'm considering fitting EF-EL thermo fans into my ED but instead of using a thermatic switch, I was thinking of using a manual switch. I realise that a thermatic switch is recommended but I was talking to a bloke who wired up a thermo fan with a manual switch in his Mk1 3.0 Capri and he says it works perfectly....So I'm thinking of giving it a go in my ED.
Can anyone help me out with the best way to wire it up?
Cheers :)

easy mate, just mount a switch to control switching power to a relay, mount the relay in the engine bay, run a 60amp fused positive from the battery to the relay and then through to the fans, wire up negative as needed to.

If you get the EF (i think) they have a 2 stage smaller fan it runs of a 3 plug connector, wire the 3rd pin to a relay with a 30amp fused line and the control pin of the relay gets wired to the air con compressor control wire so the baby fan runs when the air con is going. simple...

Cheers for the help....Sounds simple enough so I reckon I'll give it a go (Anything's better than the clutch fan).
