Firstly what sought of condition are the injectors in. They probably need servicing. Cost about $ 130-140 if your gonna remove them yourself.
Secondly what sought of condition are the leads in. Misfiring? The falcons have a problem with Map Sensors. If they are faulty they tend to run rich as. Make sure the vacuum hoses are connected up properly. About your thermo fans. Relay? Fuses? Switch? Are they all right. Have you got a circuit through them? If you bridge the wires between the fan switch, do the fans come on? Please use a test light with a globe in it or a wire with a fuse in it when trying this. If they don't come on, you will have to trace where the break is. Again, Relay, switch or fuses or broken wire.

Just forgot. With the thermo fan problem.
To test if relay is working. Try swaping relays around. get a good relay and swap it to see if relay is the problem. Switch i told you about it all ready. Check fuses. If you got a signal throught switch circuit by bridging them and no fans come on. you probably got crook fans.

Vac leak near pass side of motor may well be MAP sensor hose. This will make motor run as rich as if it is off or split. Check hose on MAP to inlet manifold.

To check the thermo fans:
start the car and pop the bonnet. Turn the air cond on and put it on front window demist only. Both the thero fans should be going with that done.

From memory the thermo fan relays are in front of the airbox.

Well if you've done all the obvious, it could be head gasket, or impeller on the water pump.

Did you use a genuine Ford thermostat? If so you may find that the running temp has gone up . I recently had a major fuel consumption prob and replaced sensors and thermostat etc to try and improve it. Genuine Ford stat is a higher temp than aftermarket and will raise your "Normal" temp. Have you access to a non contact thermometer? I used one and my actual engine temp at the thermostat housing is around 90 when guage is just above half eay up the "normal" range.

Cheers bud, i have my old thermostat in my garage that seemed to work previously, maybe the new thermostat i got was a dodgey one or bad quality.
Is 91 degree for the thermostat's right? Im also finding a bit of oil on the lower right radiator hose, around the edges of it.... dont know why... Cheers guys. |
