Hey all,
I have an EL falcon and I think the Thermo closest to the air box is not working. The temp gauge hits "O" on the Temp Guage. I let the car idle for ages, only the Thermo closest to the overflow tank turns on. I heard it could be a fuse or relay problem or the Termo is destroyed. Where is the fuse and relays for the Termos?? Hopfully they are seperate if not one Thermo is knackered. Thanks! |

I have a question regarding that test, as the thermos in my father's EL Ghia 5.0 are really unreliable, hardly turn on.
So basically, to do the EECV test, you short the top left most pin with the bottom left most pin in the soket in the fuse board area, with like a screwdriver?, whilst the key is not on, and put the transmission into drive and the fans should operate? If they do not, and the procedure is stopped, wil there be any problems, or should the error codes be cleared (however that's done :p)? Sorry for the long winded question, but I'm just trying to think of ways to help fix my dads car, he loves it to bits, and doesn't wanna crack another head in the summer. Cheers. |

I bascially did this. Only fan closest to airbox works.
Testing the Thermo Fan operation - Easy method 1. Ensure that it is safe to start the engine on the vehicle to be tested. (I.E. no tools in engine bay, etc). 2. Start the engine of the vehicle. 3. For non climate control cars - Turn the Air-conditioning to MAX, and the Fan speed to MAX. 3. For auto climate control cars - Press AUTO, and set the temperature to the lowest possible setting. Once this has been carried out, the Thermo fans should be running at their High Speed setting. |

Yeah, the fans cut in when the airconditioner is switched on, but when the motor is overheating they stay off, and this is I beleive controlled by the coomputer, so I'll try to operate them that way..

Had an issue in my AU ... both fans were working ... but not at full capacity .... they sounded like they were ... but you could actually stop the passenger side fan with your hand (shouldn't be able to at all ... should chop your fingers clean off .... LOL).
New set of thermos were fitted and pretty much the problem was sorted.
