What's all this I hear about getting more power out of simply changing the thermostat? Does anyone have an educated opinion on this?

well you can't get more power from just changeing the thermostat.
what you do get is either it will open sooner meaning it will run cooler or open later meaning it will run a bit warmer...but as for power gains thats just plain BS.

Surely a cooler engine would make more power even if its not quanitfiable.

colder engine more fuel,,if that equates to more power then go for it,you must remember that if the sensors detect the engine is running colder than it should then it just adds more fuel,,,thats where the so called power comes from to the detriment of fuel economy.

i think you are refering to the ebay scam of adding a resistor to the water temp sensor to trick the ecu into the belief that the engine is running cold and so runs a richer mixture |
