hi guys, dont want to use ford thermostats. want to use aftermarket.
what after market brands are there. i know theres tridon, slant, dayco. what aftermarket brand do you reccommend of thermostat. is there a gasket between the top and bottom thermostat housing or is it only a o ring. does it matter if it doesnt have the pin in the housing as i was told it didnt. how long does it have to take for the temperature gauge to read operating temperature as my gauge works but never gets in the low normal just stays in cold area |

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. My EF had the same problem until I fixed it last weekend.
I used a Dayco, it was what the bloke behind the counter at Repco gave me. Only the o-ring is supplied. I didn't use a gasket but used that blue gasket sealer between the metal surfaces. My car takes a couple of minutes to creep up into normal in the morning while warming up at about 1500 rpm. |

does the dayco one have the pin in it. is the slant one any good to use or is the dayco better.
where in the gauge does it read. my hoses only seem to just get warm. im putting thermo fans in and im trying a new thermostat. using a 92 degree one and a tridon tfs 148 switch for the fans. |

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by the thermostat having a pin. Maybe another forum member can help you there.
Before I replaced the thermostat the temp needle would stay in the "C" area of the gauge. It would creep into Normal if I was stuck in traffic. Now that it's fixed, it stays on the "A" in Normal. |
